Summary of differences between monocot and dicot flowers:

Monocot flowers tend to have parts in 3 (or multiples of that), whilst dicots tend to have 4 or 5 parts (or multiples of 4 or 5). Whilst this characteristic is accepted as a distinguishing difference between monocots and dicots, there are exceptions. In addition this characteristic is not easy to assess in some flowers with reduced or numerous parts.
